2024 Nova 7 embodies the essence of an extraordinary growing season. Marked by
unprecedented heat accumulation and a historic dry spell during the critical ripening period, this environment propelled the development of Nova Scotia’s signature Muscat grape, a key component in the profile of Nova 7. With 1,240 growing degree days, 2024 far exceeded our 10-year average, creating the optimal conditions for aromatic complexity.
The season brought uniquely dry weather, with below-average rainfall in every month except July. August and September saw notably few rain events, and rainfall remained minimal during the crucial ripening window from early September to mid-October, allowing for balanced and controlled maturation. These exceptional conditions allowed our Muscat and other aromatic varieties to express their floral character with remarkable intensity, marking the 2024 vintage as one of the most promising in recent years. The sustained dry spells and moderate temperatures ensured each grape achieved optimal ripeness, resulting in an aromatic purity that will undoubtedly add to Nova 7’s storied legacy.
